Seeds in the Ground

My GOD– You are FAITHFUL!!!

If I wasn’t sitting here in my “house clothes” I would run outside and shout to the top of my lungs — MY GOD IS FAITHFUL!!!! He did it…He really did it!

You might be wondering what I’m talk about so let me fill you in.

Today…I realized, through a quick conversation with my cousin, that God answered many prayers I had prayed not to long ago for one of my children. (Hmmm…Isn’t it funny how we sometimes forget what we have prayed for?).

They who sow in tears shall reap with joyful singing. He who goes back and forth weeping, carrying his bag of seed [for planting], will indeed come again with a shout of joy, bringing his sheaves with him. ~ Psalm 126:5-6

Let’s break these scriptures down so you can see what I’m talking about. (This is going to be good!)

The person in this scripture is me….and you. The seeds being sown are prayers.  And ooohhh did my tears water that seed. I prayed and cried…and prayed and cried…and PRAYED and CRIED (that’s the back and forth weeping in verse 6). The point is there are times in our lives when we will have to sow seeds (continuous prayer) and then WAIT for the reaping season. I want to testify that TODAY I am singing a joyful song and my arms are full from the harvest collected (answered prayers)! GOD IS FAITHFUL! My joy is twofold. I’m joyful as I gaze upon God’s work AND joyful because I have greater confidence in God’s faithfulness. He answers prayers my friend.

I’m remembering how I took my worries, concerns, and pleas to God day after day. I kept talking to Him about it. Not only did I talk but I also listened. He would bring back scriptures from my memory that I would stand on. And, He gave me promises that only He could give. I prophesied to the situation and tenaciously fought spiritually. I had to trust that what He said would be…would be (prophetic word). I didn’t have anything to hang on to but Him. Have you ever been in this kind of place? It looked pretty awful. I would love to be able to say that during this process I experienced joy…I actually didn’t. It was hard. No mother wants to see their baby hurting. But what I had was a seed in the ground and I kept watering it. I didn’t sow just one seed. Am I saying you need to cry in order for every prayer to be answered? No. What I am saying is God sees the tears and uses your faith and dependence upon Him to nourish the soil.

Did you notice the difference in the sower’s actions? In one situation, the sower sowed in tears and reaped joyful singing. In the next verse, the sower went back and forth carrying his BAG of seed. Meaning, he/she constantly prayed. Does God struggle to hear us?…of course not. Somethings just require more of us and coincidentally grow us in the process.

One last thing…don’t miss two key terms within our verses. SHALL and WILL! They are contractual terms…promises. God is saying if you come to me in prayer with your tears, faith, and faithfulness YOU SHALL/WILL reap in JOY because our God is faithful!!

PRAYER: Father, my trust and hope is in You. I cast all my cares upon you because you care about me. Thank you for not only seeing my tears but saving every one of them. I bring this situation to You (name it) and I trust you to answer. This seed in the ground WILL produce a harvest of JOY at the right time.
